How do you make a denim skirt smaller?

Should i cut the sides, remove the pockets. and sew new ones in? Any details about how I should do it? There’s a skirt I have thats a size 9 but I wear a 1.

That’s alot of sizes to bring it down. I would DEFINITELY remove the pockets. Separate the front from the back at the side seams, remove your extra fabric (and pockets), baste it first–either with pins or a long basting stitch.

Then check your fit. After you like the fit, you can either add pockets back in if you’d like, and then sew your side seams.

How do I fray a denim skirt?

I have a denim skirt that goes about one inch above my knee and I want to cut off a few inches and turn it into a mini-skirt and fray the bottom edge. What is the best way to do this?

P.S.I don’t want any derisive comments about how it’s stupid to fray clothing…

Cut it off and wash it, dry it and you should have your fray.

Usually the washing/drying process is what does it perfectly. Keep in mind the fray might continue to unravel about 1/2 inch so the skirt might end up too short, so cut wisely.

If you have a sewing machine, I would sew all around the bottom of the denim skirt and cut about 1/4 inch beneath that..it will keep the fray from going up and up and up.

Yesterday I bought a denim skirt with leggings and I have no clue what color shirt I should wear with it.

Wear a white or pink t-shirt – that would look very sexy please change the leggings for black tights – leggings look rubbish and tights look sexy

What shirt would go with a denim mini skirt?

What shirt could go with a denim mini skirt? It’s for a twelve year old, so in the kids section. Preferably a winter color, so white, gray, or blue…colors like that.

Oh, and it has to be a place in NJ, so Dillards is out of the question. The size is either a 10 or 12. Thanks! Forgot to add, it’s for a winter dance.

You can wear like a cute tank top or a cute t-shirt. I would wear something sparkly/shiny if you want to stand out!

If I was going to wear a skirt I would see what looked good with it. Maybe a cute tank and a jacket or a shrugh.
