You could wear just a plain vest top or tshirt.
I think this owl top would look good, especially with the detail around the neckline:

I suggest a t-shirt with an all over print, but not too big, and a cardigan with a similar color that was in the pattern. Don't add too many accessories,let you shine though. Maybe a signature necklace and bangles or something. Make it have YOU written all over it. The tee should be plain as a v neck or scoop. Good Luck!

I wear skirts a lot, but it's always hard to dress them down for the daytime. What i do, with my peasant skirts and regular skirts is wear either a v-neck t-shirt or a nice tank top that matches. Say that the skirt you have has yellow tulips with a black base; what you do is get a yellow tank top to dress it down. You can also wear a belt over the tank top or the skirt. Also, like I mentioned, you can layer v-neck t-shirts that correspond with the colors of your skirt. In my opinion, I'd wear a tank top, and maybe even layer it. Wear some sandals with it too, like gladiator sandals.
